SideStage panel and speaker lineup announced

The lineup for SideStage was announced over on Twitter yesterday.

We may yet add a couple more people to some of the panels but this is the guts of it.

It’s a really strong lineup, featuring some great Irish event professionals. All of our speakers and panel contributors are giving their time for free to (hopefully) benefit people looking to get into the industry. That’s the whole idea of the event and fingers crossed we can deliver on that.

Here’s the lineup:

11:15‘Going Big’ panel – This is all about the challenges & experience of running big city-wide events, festivals and conferences. On this panel will be industry figures including Mary Weir, Co-Founder of the Event Industry Association of Ireland, Elaine O’Connor, Managing Director at Magnum Events, Eoin Conroy from Titan – Sport / Live / Experience and Martin Cullen, Co-Founder & Senior Partner at Cuckoo Events.

12:00‘Look at me now’ panel – This will feature event professionals who have achieved a lot at a young age, event professionals who have come to events late from other careers as well as young event professionals who are working on huge international events. Participating on this panel are Elaine Fitzsimon, Event Producer at Cuckoo Events, John May, Manager, Venue Transportation, Toronto 2015 PanAm Games / Parapan American Games, Keith Quinlan, Events & Promotions Manager, UL Students’ Union, Neil Kennedy, Event Coordinator, Fingal Tourism.

14:00‘Just the job’ panel – This panel will feature people in a variety of roles across the spectrum within the event industry. The idea is to highlight roles that the attendees may not even be aware of and to open their eyes to potential career paths open to them. Included on this panel are Ruth McDonagh, Business Development & Operations Manager, Alive Outside, Niamh Kellett, Co-Founder at Mixtape Marketing, Jonny Davis, Managing Director, Imagine Marketing and Kate O’Reilly, National Campaigns Officer, Irish Cancer Society.

14:40‘The supplier’s side’ panel – This panel will feature a number of people who are suppliers to the event industry. They will contribute a perspective not often aired or, some would say, considered. Appearing on this panel are Ann Lowney, Marketing Manager at Eventbrite, Eoin Kernan, Founder & Media Producer at Slick, Damian ‘Boggler’ Bolger, Owner at Boggler Productions, Stuart Garland, Training & Programme Manager at Volunteer Ireland, Tara Beattie from TheCaterers.ie and Mairtín Lane from Actavo (formerly Eventserv)

15:20‘Key stakeholders’ panel – There are a lot of key stakeholders for events, especially for large-scale events. This panel is designed to expose the attendees to some of those people. Participating on this panel are Lynn Daly, Events Liaison, Dublin City Council, Neil Crowley, Sergeant, An Garda Síochána, Tom Daly, District Officer, Dublin Fire Brigade, Diarmuid Smyth, Chief Executive, Sword Security and Mags Connelly, Division Head at Cuckoo Events.

16:00 – Q&A session

16:30 – Closing address – Mark Breen, Cuckoo Events

The ‘CV A&E’ sessions will begin at approximately 14:15 and this will see attendees with those tickets sitting with some of our contributors, speed-dating style for 10 minutes, to get some advice on their CVs. Contributors involved in this include Jacqueline Finnegan, Gilligan Black Recruitment, Zoe Healy from Zenith PR and Martina Quinn, Founder / Director, Alice PR & Events.
