What's sidestage about?
#SideStage15 is an event for Event Management students and people looking to get into the event industry now or in the near future. The first one took place in Draiocht in Blanchardstown, Dublin on 26th November 2015.
We had contributors who work on festivals, concerts, international sporting events, charity events, international conferences, weddings, incentive travel, corporate events, launches, fashion shows and much more.
Our contributors are event management company owners, lecturers, freelancers, students, recent graduates, social media professionals, experiential agency owners, in-house event staff, account managers, venue managers, production & operational crew and more.
You will not find a better collection of event professionals from whose experience you can benefit and from whom you can learn.
#SideStage15 was FREE to attend too.It went really well so we'll likely be back again in some sort of guise with it or something designed to fill a similar need, at least. . .

We nabbed some of out contributors on the day to give us their ‘Top Tip’. You can check out all of them below and do let us know if you agree or disagree. What’s YOUR ‘Top Tip’?
We packed a lot in to #SideStage15 and we had to sacrifice a number of ‘thank yous’ at the end in order to finish up on time. It speaks to the quality of the panels on the day that we found ti tough to stick to the schedule fully. That’s what we’re telling ourselves anyway. .[…]
The lineup for SideStage was announced over on Twitter yesterday. We may yet add a couple more people to some of the panels but this is the guts of it. It’s a really strong lineup, featuring some great Irish event professionals. All of our speakers and panel contributors are giving their time for free to[…]
It was a lot more glamorous than it sounds. Honestly it was. We held a photo-call to launch SideStage15 on the roof of the offices here at Cuckoo Events. We were lucky to have a number of our contributors join us, despite the cold, and we got some great pictures too. Given that we’re not ‘selling’[…]
A lot of our contributors are directly responsible for hiring new events staff in their organisations. We see a lot of CVs and approaches for work and we see a lot of the same mistakes. We got a lot of feedback from students and people looking to get into events as we were planning SideStage[…]
Nice to be nice The initial idea for #SideStage15 came from us believing that event management students and people looking to get into events needed a conference / event where they could learn more about the industry and hopefully gain some insights on how to get into it. We get approached all the time to[…]
Ever since we announced the name of the event people have been asking where the name came from so we said we’d kick things off by explaining that one. Way back when we were getting into events and looking to learn as much as we could, someone said to us: Backstage is bullsh*t. You want[…]
